Turtle Bay to open second Birmingham restaurant

Caribbean restaurant chain Turtle Bay is opening a second venue in Birmingham.

The company has struck a deal to launch on the ground floor of 10 Brindleyplace off Broad Street which is currently undergoing a £39.7 million renovation.

It is due to open in September and joins its sister site in John Bright Street which launched in 2014.

The 4,465 sq ft restaurant will create over 50 jobs and have space for 230 diners both indoors and in a covered external terrace.

Turtle Bay serves food such as mixed grills, roti rolls and West Indian curries and also has restaurants in Coventry, Leamington Spa and Solihull as well as sites across the UK.

Chief financial officer Steve Robinson said: "We are very pleased to be able to offer Caribbean good times to even more people in Birmingham by opening a second site, this time in Brindleyplace.

"We'll shortly be looking to recruit highly engaged and dynamic team members in bar, floor and kitchen roles."

Nick White, director at 10 Brindleyplace's landlord CBRE Investment Management, added: "We are really pleased to welcome Turtle Bay to 10 Brindleyplace.

"The creation of an inclusive feel-good space with strong environmental and social credentials for our occupiers and wider community to enjoy strongly aligns with what we are creating at 10 Brindleyplace."

The renovation of 10 Brindleyplace is due to be completed in the summer and will create 210,000 sq ft of grade A office space.

It has been brought about by combining two previously separate addresses, namely 8 and 10 Brindleyplace, to create a new, single office block.

Other work at the site includes a café, fitness studio and bouldering wall, storage for 100 bicycles, electric vehicle charging points and two communal roof terraces.
