Fresh advice has been issued for travellers heading to a popular holiday destination. The Government has updated its guidance for people planning trips to Turkey.
The new guidance from the Foreign Office warns of a heightened risk of terrorism, saying most attacks have happened in the south-east of the country, as well as in Ankara and Istanbul. An attack in the Beyoglu district of Istanbul in November left six people dead and injured dozens more.
"There is a potential that citizens from western countries may be targets or caught up in attacks, particularly in the major cities," says the advice, which was published on Sunday (January 29).
