The internet obsession with Guinness knows no bounds. If 2024 was the year Dublin’s most famous export found itself the subject of a brand new lexicon — talk of “the schtick”, “the dome”, endless wearisome nicknames — and old games were revived as if newly invented (“splitting the G”), this year has become the one for alternate ways to drink it. More and more menus are offering Black Velvets, the 1860s cocktail combining Guinness and champagne, while last month the 60/40 Guinness — where zero and regular are combined in those proportions — went viral.
Now posts are going around social media talking of the “Turbo Guinness”.
