Tunde Baiyewu has been confirmed to be on the bill for an upcoming concert in Newcastle after his decision to go solo forced the Lighthouse Family to cancel their planned appearance at Mouth of the Tyne this weekend.
With the multi-platinum selling band having been formed when Tunde and keyboard player Paul Tucker were both studying at university in Newcastle and working in the same bar, there was great interest in their return to home turf for the Tynemouth festival, with every ticket for the concert snapped up.
However, with just a month to go, Paul took to social media to share his 'heartbreak' at them going their separate ways and having to cancel Mouth of the Tyne, citing Tunde's keenness to focus on solo ventures as the reason. Apologising to fans, Paul wrote: "I’m so sorry that this means that our headline show at Mouth Of The Tyne Festival on 9th July is now cancelled.

"I have tried everything with our agents and promoters over the last few weeks to make this work but we just couldn’t get it over the line. Tunde now wants to focus on his solo career and I wish him all the best.
He added: "I would like to say sorry to the promoters and to all of you who have tickets for this show and have waited through the last two years."
"I was really looking forward to this hometown show and playing our songs in this amazing place close to the lighthouses that gave us our name. I am as disappointed as you are. It breaks my heart to let you down."
Well now Tunde's solo plans have been revealed, with him on the line-up for the Giants of Soul Tour, which will arrive at O2 City Hall on Sunday, November 18. Posting about it on Instagram, Tunde wrote: "Hello Friends/ I am delighted to announce I'll be performing at the Giants of Soul UK Tour in September. Have you got your tickets yet. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for your constant support."
Other singers taking part in the Giants of Soul shows include Deniece Williams, Gwen Dickey - The voice of Rose Royce, Alexander O'Neal, Jaki Graham.
