Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, who now identifies as an independent, made headlines on Monday by endorsing former President Donald Trump. Speaking at the National Guard Association of the United States’ 146th General Conference & Exhibition, Gabbard praised Trump for his understanding of the grave responsibility that a president and commander in chief bears for every single life.
Gabbard highlighted Trump's track record of not starting any new wars during his first term and his efforts to de-escalate and prevent conflicts. She contrasted this with her criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that Trump views war as a last resort, a sentiment she believes is lacking in Harris.
As a lieutenant colonel in the US Army Reserve with 17 years of service in the Hawaii Army National Guard, Gabbard emphasized the importance of Trump's role in walking the country back from the brink of war. She also mentioned joining Trump at Arlington National Cemetery on the anniversary of the Kabul airport attack that claimed the lives of 13 US military service members.
Gabbard revealed that she has been assisting Trump with debate preparation ahead of his upcoming face-off with Harris on September 10. In a unifying message, she called on Americans of all political affiliations who love their country and value peace and freedom to support Trump's reelection bid.
Expressing her pride in standing before the audience, Gabbard urged unity in saving the country and electing President Donald J. Trump for a second term. She emphasized the importance of Trump's leadership in saving the nation and serving its people.
