The UK's largest tour operator TUI has responded to a string of lengthy flight delays claiming it was "doing everything" to minimise disruption. Holiday flights to Zante, Ibiza and Dalaman in Turkey have been hit by delays of more than 24 hours this week.
However, passengers have been urged to follow airline guidance and not turn up too far in advance at airports to check-in. But the tour operator insisted it was working alongside airport officials to prevent delays.
TUI said in a statement: "We would like to apologise to some of our customers who have experienced flight delays in recent days. As the UK’s biggest holiday company, our priority is to take customers on holiday safely, so we will never cancel holidays.
