Pilot calls POLICE to free him and passengers from plane 'abandoned' by ground staff

A pilot called on the police to help hundreds of passengers disembark an 'abandoned' plane after they were sat on the runway for three hours due to staff shortages.

Holidaymakers were stuck on the tarmac before being escorted off the plane at Manchester Airport after flight TOM2106 to Tenerife was hit by an initial delay.

The fed-up travellers said Swissport had 'abandoned' them, causing many to become agitated and extremely anxious, reports the Manchester Evening News.
