TUI, easyJet, Jet2 and Ryanair passengers warned over flushing toilet, wearing shorts and falling asleep on planes

One flight attendant has flagged concerns over those who travel with shorts, flush the toilet and fall asleep during their plane journey.

While it is the norm to opt for comfort by wearing shorts to the airport, flight attendant Tommy Cimato wanted that it may not be the most ideal (and hygienic) choice to make, even if it’s flexible and easy to wear.

Cimato said: "Don’t or try not to wear shorts when you're on an airplane. It's the same thing as the window – you never know how clean it's going to be, so if you have [trousers], you're going to have less germs.”

As fliers never knew how clean the plane was and which bits would be, or would not be, cleaned, he recommended sticking to trousers at 12,000 feet.

As reported by Mirror Online, Tommy also suggested never falling asleep on a flight or to “lean your head on the window” as you never know how many people would do the same and whether the window had been even cleaned.

He said: “You are not the only one that has done that and you don't know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things all over the window.”

In addition, Tommy also advised holidaymakers against pressing the toilet flush button on planes.

He said: “Do not ever touch the flush button with your bare hands. It's honestly just super unsanitary and pretty gross, so when you flush, use a napkin or tissue that's in the lavatory.”
