After a week of warnings and preparation, Leeds and much of the rest of the UK is set to experience its hottest day on record on Tuesday.
Record temperatures surpassing 40C are expected for parts of Yorkshire and a red warning for extreme heat that could pose a risk to life has been issued in parts of the county Leeds. The red alert was also issued on Monday and record temperatures were recorded in numerous places including Leeds, where at Bramham Park a record heat of 35.1C was recorded.
But it's only set to get hotter on Tuesday. The Met Office has also warned that temperatures overnight into Tuesday are holding up in the low 20s and possible mid-20s in isolated places, which could make it the warmest night on record in the UK.
