Tua Tagovailoa clears concussion protocol

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was originally placed in concussion protocol for the second time in a year the day after their Christmas Day matchup with the Green Bay Packers.

The Alabama product missed the remainder of the regular season and the wild-card matchup with the Buffalo Bills, leaving quarterback duties up to Teddy Bridgewater and Skylar Thompson.

After the season ended, it was reported that Tagovailoa was still in the protocol and wouldn’t be able to participate in the Pro Bowl Games. However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that Tagovailoa has now cleared the protocol.

He should be 100% ready to go when he returns to football activities this spring with the team.

Miami will need to take his health into account this offseason, as they prepare to make a decision on the quarterbacks fifth-year option.
