While a multiway bra doesn’t usually get as much use as the rest of your lingerie collection, it’s a most definitely a wardrobe staple, and finding one that sits and fits well is important.
I’ve had the same old multiway bra for years and I’ve never found it hugely comfortable or particularly flattering – it’s just there as a basic piece of underwear for when I wear a bandeau dress at a special occasion or opt for a strappy frock during the summer months. I thought all strapless bras would feel the same, so I was pleasantly surprised when testing out this bra from TU at Sainsbury's – it was way more comfy than I expected and surprisingly smoothing which makes it a great choice for anybody shopping for the best bras for back fat, or that struggles to find strapless support that you can wear all day without discomfort.
Price: £12

The bra I tested is the TU at Sainsbury's Multiway Soft Cup Balcony Bra, which you can buy for just £12, and it comes in a wide range of sizes covering 32A- 42E. It's underwired and has some light padding, and the clever removable straps can be worn in five different ways, making it brilliantly versatile.
I put the bra to the test by wearing it without straps for a full day, and I considered the fabrics, the design and overall fit as well as how smoothing and flattering it was.

TU at Sainsbury's Multiway Soft Cup Balcony Bra Review : Comfort & Fit
Multiway bras aren’t known for being particularly comfortable as the rubber strips on the inside that are needed for holding it up all day, can sometimes rub on skin or feel a little sweaty. This bra had good quality hold and stayed put, but without any ouch moments and it was far comfier than I expected.
It’s underwired for lift and support and the moulded cups kept my boobs in check during a busy day without any need to yank it up or adjust it. It was wonderfully smoothing at the front, sides and back, and even under a tight vest or t-shirt, it sat neatly against skin without any overhang. The multiway straps can be worn in five ways, including asymmetric and cross-back, and they are very easy to attach and remove without any faff.
TU at Sainsbury's Multiway Soft Cup Balcony Bra: Style
The smooth, moulded cups on this bra are simple and sit very neatly under clothing without any lumps. The fuss-free and simplistic front is balanced out nicely with a soft lace side and back, and the band is wider than most everyday bras which is flattering and smoothing.
The balconette cups create a great shape on boobs, and will sit well under strapless tops and dresses without peeking out over the top.
TU at Sainsbury's Multiway Soft Cup Balcony Bra Review: Care
Most bras should be hand washed to avoid damage or the cups becoming misshapen, but this one is very handily machine washable. I put it on a gentle rinse, and I was impressed with how well it kept its shape and hold the next time that I wore it.
TU at Sainsbury's Multiway Soft Cup Balcony Bra: Verdict
After wearing a very basic and uncomfortable strapless bra to special occasions in the past, I had really low expectations for this multiway piece but the TU at Sainsbury's Multiway Soft Cup Balcony Bra really surprised me! It looks chic, flatters my boobs well and is amazingly smoothing at the front and back, thanks to a slightly wider band. The removable and multiway straps mean I can wear it with a wide range of dresses and tops, and the hard-working yet comfortable rubber inner strips kept it up, so I didn’t need to worry about a lack of support. I cant believe it’s only £12, and although the cup sizes only go up to an E, i'm impressed with the range of sizes it covers. Not bad for a bra that you can pick up with your weekly shop!
