The US has celebrated its 250th birthday with parades, fireworks shows and flyovers, all topped off with a speech delivered by Donald Trump.

The “spirit of 1776 still lives within us all”, he said as he concluded his Fourth of July speech, which was delayed due to severe weather conditions which resulted in crowds being evacuated.
