Letitia James condemns ‘the Donald Trump show’ as former president leaves fraud trial
Donald Trump is clearly flattered that some far-right members of the Republican party want him to become the next speaker of the House.
After some GOP hardliners including Marjorie Taylor Greene said they would vote for him to take the role, Mr Trump posted an illustration on Truth Social of him in a MAGA hat while clutching the gavel in the lower chamber.
The former president returned home to Florida on Wednesday having sat through two and half days of his New York civil fraud trial in New York, after claiming that he intended to testify “at the appropriate time”.
With no cameras in the courtroom, Mr Trump took advantage of the media scrum in the courthouse hallways to bash New York Attorney General Letitia James and New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron – before he was slapped with a gag order for attacking the court clerk on social media. After he departed, Ms James told reporters she would not be bullied and the “Donald Trump show is over”.
In other legal issues, Mr Trump has filed a new motion seeking to toss his hush money case – claiming it was brought to sabotage his 2024 run.
