- US President Donald Trump has urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to reach an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war.
- Trump said Saturday that Zelensky and Putin were “going along” and that “someday, hopefully in the not-too-distant future, maybe before the heavy winter, they’ll make a deal.”
- “You know what I want him to do? Make a deal,” Trump said, referring to Zelensky. “I want him to settle with Putin, and I want Putin to settle with him.”
- The call for negotiations came amid a fresh wave of overnight Russian aerial attacks across Ukraine , while Ukraine continued to target Russian oil refineries and industrial sites with long-range drones.
- Zelensky responded to the latest violence by stating that the strikes demonstrate an urgent need for the international community to decisively rein in Putin.
