President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday — and the 250th anniversary of the country — with a bloody, UFC brawl on the White House’s South Lawn this weekend.
Trump’s UFC Freedom 250, a series of cage matches on the White House lawn, came to a finish Sunday as American lightweight Justin Gaethje, spurred on by chants of “USA” from the crowd, defeated star fighter Ilia Topuria in the final event of the night.
The president and Melania Trump joined Gaethje inside the cage to celebrate his victory as fireworks lit up the skies of Washington, D.C.
As the event was underway, Trump received an outpouring of birthday wishes from the MAGA world. Meanwhile, Democrats and adversaries were more critical of the event due to its high cost — $60 million to stage — as well as its need for heightened security measures and promotion of violence.
Even still, over 4,000 fans came to take in the spectacle. The event came as the U.S. and Iran reached a deal to end the months-long war and open the Strait of Hormuz.

Dana White says UFC White House event was an 'amazing experience' but will never happen again

UFC’s Dana White said that while the Freedom 250 event was an “amazing experience,” it will never happen again.
“I can't afford it. There's no f***ing way we can do this again. I'll never do the Sphere again, and we'll never do this again,” White told reporters.

The View hosts eviscerate Trump over reaction to UFC fighter calling Michelle Obama ‘a man’
19:00 , Isabel Keane
The View co-host Sunny Hostin has called out Donald Trump for his reaction to MMA fighter Josh Hokit’s racial slur against Michelle Obama after his cage match at the White House’s controversial UFC Freedom 250 event.
To ring in America’s upcoming 250th anniversary and the president’s 80th birthday, the White House hosted a UFC cage match spectacle Sunday on the South Lawn. Following his victory against Derrick Lewis, Hokit sat down with podcaster Joe Rogan for a post-match interview, where he yelled: “Michelle Obama is a man, am I right America?”
Addressing the 28-year-old athlete’s hateful remarks during Monday’s segment of the ABC talk show, Hostin 57, said: “For a long time — and the roots are in slavery — Black women have been slurred and made to feel that they were unattractive, made to feel like they were masculine and that they didn’t have the femininity that a white woman would have.
“And so there’s this intersectionality between racism and sexism that was on full display at the White House,” she continued. “The crowd laughed at the statement, and the President of the United States smirked, and then never addressed what was said. That is beneath the dignity of the Office of the President of the United States and the dignity of the American people.”
While much of the conversation about the UFC event was overshadowed by excitement about the New York Knicks’ first NBA championship win in 53 years, Ana Navarro chimed in, arguing that the event did not “signify America’s best values.”

Democratic National Committee comments on Trump using UFC event to make his family richer
17:48 , Isabel Keane
DNC spokesperson Jaelin O’Halloran spoke out against the promotion of Trump-branded gold coins — as well as the UFC fighters getting paid for last night’s cage match in crypto from the Trump family’s World Liberty Financial.
“There seems to be no limit to Donald Trump’s self-dealing. Trump never misses an opportunity to use the power of the presidency to make himself and his family even richer,” O’Halloran said in a statement.
“While Trump throws lavish parties for himself and his rich friends to promote his family businesses, his actions have driven up prices to record highs and working families are struggling to make ends meet,” the statement continued.
“As Trump prioritizes his own ego and self-enrichment, Democrats are fighting to lower costs and make life better for everyday Americans.”

Barron Trump makes first appearance with dad in months by attending UFC fight night at White House
17:21 , Isabel Keane
Barron Trump, the youngest son of President Donald Trump, made a rare public appearance at the White House for his father’s 80th birthday Sunday, by attending the UFC Freedom 250 cage match.
The 20-year-old walked onto the White South Lawn Sunday evening for the fight alongside his older siblings and extended family. It marks his latest major public appearance since February when he attended his father’s State of the Union address at the Capitol.
At the UFC Freedom 250 fight, Barron Trump sat behind his parents, the president and First Lady Melania Trump, and between his grandfather, Viktor Knavs, and niece, Kai Trump.
The youngest Trump son does not make many public media appearances because he is currently studying at New York University’s Stern School of Business at the Washington, D.C. campus. Barron Trump just finished his sophomore year.
But for his father’s birthday, also marketed as a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Barron Trump made an appearance on the White House South Lawn for the UFC fight.

UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell criticizes White House for hosting Freedom 250 event
17:02 , Isabel Keane
UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell said the government is “desecrating its role in society” by hosting sporting events at the White House.
While Mitchell noted he was happy for every fighter involved — and said his critiques were not for the UFC or Dana White — he said the White House shouldn’t have held the Freedom 250 event Sunday.
“What I think, personally, is that our government is desecrating its role in society by entertaining sports. Our government is to protect and serve the people and really should be as minimal as possible,” he said.
“When you’re doing all this stuff, hosting sporting events, it’s really outside of what the goal of the government was intended to be. Our tax dollars and resources are funding this operation.”
Mitchell emphasized that he understands why the UFC would agree to the event. Still, he noted the government “shouldn’t be hosting sporting events because there’s more room for corruption and we already have a corrupted government.”

Comments on Michelle Obama under scrutiny post UFC bout

UFC fighter Josh Hokit made headlines not only for winning his bout at the White House — but for crying out, “Michelle Obama is a man” after his win.
The UFC fighter’s bizarre and untrue comments have since drawn criticism from both Republicans and Democrats.
UFC Boss Dana White also addressed the comments, telling TIME: "I understand that the Obama’s are public figures but I’m completely against saying nasty and false things about people’s families...Everyone knows my position on free speech but I hate that kind of nonsense.”

Trump’s heavily-caked hand makes appearance at UFC fights
15:40 , Isabel Keane
President Donald Trump sported heavy makeup slathered across his hand ahead of his big UFC match, celebrating his 80th birthday and the country’s 250th anniversary.
Trump’s hand appeared to be discolored and coated in a thick layer of concealer, despite having thrown no punches himself during the UFC Freedom 250 event held Sunday on the White House South Lawn.
White House officials have downplayed the president’s persistent hand bruising, blaming it on his frequent handshakes with other world leaders and politicians.
The president’s apparent affinity for covering up his mysterious marks with a thick slathering of makeup has continued to draw attention from social media users, many of whom have questioned Trump’s physical and mental health ever since he became the oldest president to be sworn into office.
“Trump’s hand this evening at the UFC fight,” political commentator Brian Krassenstein wrote, along with an image of the president’s swollen and concealer-covered hand. “Totally normal…if you are one of the fighters who just completed 3 rounds.”

“This sounds like advertising,” Todd Phillips, an expert in crypto at the Klaros Group, told The Guardian.
The administration and World Liberty Financial have pushed back heavily against criticism. White House spokesman Davis Ingle dismissed the backlash, stating there was no conflict of interest because the president’s assets are held in a trust managed by his children.

UFC Freedom 250: Start time, card and how to watch White House fights this weekend

This week, the UFC will host an unprecedented event at the White House, putting on a series of fights to celebrate 250 years of the United States.
The UFC’s cage is being constructed on the South Lawn, where seven fights will take place – on the 80th birthday of US president Donald Trump, coincidentally.
Trump is a close friend of UFC president and CEO Dana White, who promised the greatest card in MMA history. And although fans have expressed disappointment in the actual quality of the bout list, it is still a strong collection of contests.

There's a tiny chance of tornados and hail for tomorrow's UFC fight
Sunday 14 June 2026 00:16 , Brendan Rascius
There’s a small risk that President Trump’s UFC event on Sunday could be hampered by severe weather.
Kyle Pallozzi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, told USA Today that there is a 2 percent chance of tornados and a 5 percent chance of hail. He placed the odds of damaging winds at 30 percent.
“It's the lowest level they can outlook for a tornado and then also the lowest level they can outlook for hail,’’ Pallozzi said. “So definitely primary threats are damaging winds.”
Trump’s UFC cage match is set to begin at 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Trump loves crashing sports events – thanks to the UFC, he’s got his own with a twist
Saturday 13 June 2026 20:58 , Brendan Rascius
Donald Trump is accustomed to mixed reactions when attending sports events. In fairness, his presence at the New York Knicks’ NBA Finals game this week did not so much draw a divisive reception as vociferous condemnation in Madison Square Garden, but he will not be too bothered. That’s because on Sunday, it will be all cheers and no jeers.
A scarcely believable UFC fight card will play out on the White House’s South Lawn; the 4,000-odd attendees will have been carefully curated. For once, see, Trump is not crashing a sports event; he has his own.
