President Donald Trump disrupted a global trading system that had been in place for over 75 years by introducing a new baseline U.S. tariff on goods from all economies. Tariffs slapped by Trump administration have forced brands across every major food category to change ingredients. If Americans' favorite food doesn't taste the same, or a product they have trusted for years seems different, then it's not their tongues' fault.
"A lot of what's in your pantry isn't what it was 6 months ago. When costs jump this fast, brands change the recipe first and worry about the nutrition label later. This creates a gap that consumers rarely know about," says Maria Abi Hanna, CEO, Food Label Maker.
