Trump Shares Podcast Host Labeling Mar-a-Lago 'The Capitol of the World'

Mar-a-Lago, a luxurious resort located in Florida's exclusive town of Palm Beach, has become a staple in the Trump empire and of his political career. Now that he is soon to move back to the White House, Mar-a-Lago has once again risen to national attention, with celebrities, political leaders and media personalities making their way to South Florida to seek prestige and power in what two podcasters are now dubbing as the new "Capitol of the World."

The President-elect himself is seemingly leaning into the narrative, reposting in his social media platform, Truth Social, a podcast episode from the show "Sid & Friends in the Morning," hosted by sports commentator Sid Rosenberg, in Truth Social, titled "Why Has Mar-a-Lago Become the 'Capital of the World."

In the episode, Rosenberg and his guest, John Catsimatidis, the CEO of Gristedes, a New York City-based grocery store chain gush about Mar-a-Lago's acquired status, urging voters to "forget Washington," and make way for the new powerful town.

"Let me tell you something, [Mar-a-Lago] is the capital of the world," Catsimatidis said. "Forget about Washington, right now is Mar-a-Lago."

But while Washington D.C. is still the capital of the United States, the two podcasters, who have also met with Trump at the exclusive resort over the years, have hit the mark on how busy the town has been ever since the Republican leader won his re-election bid in November.

From famous tech figures like Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, to Tesla and X owner Elon Musk, to world leaders like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Mar-a-Lago has become a hub for personality meet-ups, over breakfasts, luncheons, balls and other social gatherings held daily in the estate.

Domestically, even Republican lawmakers have strived to win their seat at the exclusive table. Just this week, the President-elect, in collaboration with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), have reportedly invited prominent GOP Representatives to the resort to go over legislative agenda for the new Congress. Among those lawmakers are members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, Reps. from states affected by the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap, chairs of committees and other Republican groups.

Likewise, over New Year's Eve weekend, Mike Love, one of the original members of the Beach Boys, performed the band's greatest hits under an outdoor tent as Trump wandered through the busy crowd, according to a report by The Associated Press.

The resort has become so prominent that Trump himself has deemed it as the "Center of the Universe," as he declared on social media in late-December, adding that even "Bill Gates asked to come," though it is unclear if the billionaire and philanthropist has actually joined the parage of figures making their trip to Florida.

But this isn't the first time Mar-a-Lago has been in the news. In fact, during Trump's first term, the resort was catalogued as the "Second White House," as the President would use the resort, not only for some recreational golfing, but also to host world leaders and other U.S. officials, a tradition he is on track to continue when he re-takes office on Jan. 20.
