Abdul El-Sayed fired back at President Trump on Sunday after the president suggested that the Michigan Senate candidate would need to pass through a metal detector to enter the Senate. The Democrat, who is a physician from the Detroit area, told supporters at a rally in Grand Rapids that he plans to be addressed as Senator Mohamed if he wins in November, The Hill reports.
Trump made the comments while campaigning in Michigan for El-Sayed’s opponent, Representative Mike Rogers. During the event, the president claimed that El-Sayed would have to go through a metal detector before he is allowed to go into the Senate.
