Trump says Iran war could be over soon and is ‘very complete, pretty much’

  • U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed the war with Iran could be over soon as the U.S. is “very far” ahead of his initial four to five week estimated time frame.
  • In a phone interview, Trump told CBS Senior White House Correspondent Weijia Jiang, “I think the war is very complete, pretty much. They have no navy, no communications, they’ve got no Air Force.”
  • His remarks come after Iran elected Mojtaba Khamenei as its new leader this weekend, more than a week after his father was killed in a U.S.-Israeli airstrike.
  • The 56-year-old was chosen to become the next supreme leader despite Trump’s insistence that he should have a say in the appointment.
  • The war with Iran has led to economic turmoil with oil prices soaring and stocks tumbling. Trump previously said it would continue until all U.S. objectives are met.
