- His remarks come after Iran elected Mojtaba Khamenei as its new leader this weekend, more than a week after his father was killed in a U.S.-Israeli airstrike.
- The 56-year-old was chosen to become the next supreme leader despite Trump’s insistence that he should have a say in the appointment.
- The war with Iran has led to economic turmoil with oil prices soaring and stocks tumbling. Trump previously said it would continue until all U.S. objectives are met.
