Kimberly Guilfoyle was confirmed as the United States ambassador to Greece just over a year ago. President Trump is now considering removing her from that role, according to CBS News. The potential dismissal follows allegations that she requested funds in exchange for help with the administration.
The president addressed the situation on his way to a rally in Ohio. “Well, we’re looking at it,” Donald Trump said when reporters asked whether he planned to fire Guilfoyle, adding, “We’re not happy.” As a presidential appointee, Guilfoyle serves at the president’s pleasure and can be removed without congressional approval. The allegations come from businessman Eric Deters, who claims Guilfoyle asked him to wire $100,000 to cover her American Express bill.
