A significant moment during the Trump campaign was highlighted by a top Team Trump official, who disclosed that the visit of President-elect Donald Trump to Columbiana County, Ohio, played a pivotal role in setting the campaign on a trajectory to victory. The visit occurred following a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, in February 2023, which resulted in chaos and widespread damage due to the release of toxic chemicals into the air.
During his visit to the site of the derailment, Trump emphasized the plight of Americans he believed had been forgotten by President Joe Biden. Trump's message of 'you are not forgotten' resonated with Rust Belt residents, leading to a shift in support among some individuals in the area.
