A video of President-elect Donald Trump and Prince William, the Prince of Wales, standing side by side has led many social media users to call Trump's height into question.
Both leaders were in Paris on Sunday for the reopening of the Notre Dame. In a video posted to X (formerly Twitter), Prince William is clearly significantly taller than the president-elect, standing several inches taller than him as the two men stand side by side to pose for a photograph.
In August 2023, Trump reported his height as 6'3" when he was booked into Fulton County Jail in Georgia on multiple charges relating to his alleged involvement with the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots, as previously reported by the BBC. That indicates that he should be the exact same height as the Prince of Wales, who is also 6'3".
"He's a good man this one," Trump said in reference to Prince William, proceeding to give him a pat on the arm before they pose for cameras.
"Hello everybody, he's doing a fantastic job," he continued to tell the press at the event.
Some users have also taken to social media to defend Trump or explain why Trump is seemingly shorter than he says he is.
"I shook hands with Trump many years ago at a golf tournament, he was all of 6'3" back then. He's always listed his height as 6'3" however as you age you get shorter. He's probably closer to 6'1" today," wrote one user.
"Shoes also make a difference. President Trump is wearing loafers with a lower soul than the shoes that Prince William is wearing. So, that could also account for the difference as well as the angle of the photo," said another.
"I think the "William" is too tall for 6'3. Hm," said a third.
This is not the first time people have speculated about the president-elect's height. Just months before Fulton County Jail recorded his height as 6'3", Trump was said to stand at 6'2" when he was arrested for allegedly fabricating business records in April 2023.
