A recent poll conducted by USA TODAY/Suffolk University has revealed that former President Trump's approval rating has surpassed 50%. The poll, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters between June 28 and 30, showed that 51% of respondents approve of Trump's job performance during his presidency from 2017 to 2021. In comparison, only 41% of respondents approve of President Biden's current job performance.
One of the key takeaways from the poll is that on voters' top two issues - the economy and immigration - more registered voters believe Trump would do a better job than Biden. For instance, 53% of registered voters trust Trump to handle immigration, while only 40% said the same for Biden.
Additionally, respondents viewed Trump as more capable than Biden in handling national security, with 52% trusting Trump compared to 42% for Biden. Similarly, on the issue of dealing with China, 51% of respondents believed Trump would do a better job, compared to 41% for Biden.
However, Biden scored higher than Trump on two key issues - race relations and healthcare. The poll found that 51% of registered voters believe Biden is the better candidate to handle race relations, while 41% said the same for Trump. On healthcare, Biden also scored better, with 50% of respondents favoring him over Trump's 40%.
Overall, the poll indicates that Trump is leading Biden by 3 points, with 41% of registered voters supporting Trump compared to 38% for Biden. This marks a three-point increase for Trump since the previous poll in May, though it falls within the poll's margin of error of 3.1%.
