Trump Once Compared Mark Robinson to MLK. Now MLK's Son Is Blasting the GOP Lt. Governor Over 'Black Nazi' Report

The GOP candidate for Governor of North Carolina was once compared to Martin Luther King Jr. by Donald Trump, and now MLK Jr.'s son is speaking out against him.

Martin Luther King III spoke out against GOP candidate for Governor Mark Robinson following inflammatory reports of his activity on on a pornographic website. On Thursday, CNN revealed posts allegedly made by Robinson on Nude Africa, a site for "Amateur Black Erotica." In one 2010 post, Robinson referred to himself as a "Black Nazi," in a graphic sexual story where he voiced support for bringing back slavery.

Robinson has served as lieutenant governor in North Carolina since 2021 and is the 2024 Republican nominee for the position. Former President Donald Trump has endorsed the candidate, calling Robinson, "Martin Luther King on steroids."

During a 2024 rally, Trump expressed his admiration, saying, "I think you're better than Martin Luther King," he said. "I think you are Martin Luther King times two."

Following CNN's revelatory report, Martin Luther King III, son of the civil rights icon, commented on Trump's comparison and shared his thoughts on Robinson.

"I don't like to say that somebody is crazy or demented, but..." he began, "This person is way off their rocker... There's got to be something wrong with you."

"It also says there should be concerns about North Carolinians who've allowed this person to emerge as one who's provided leadership," King continued. "At the end of the day we still have a lot of work to do - to stamp out hatred, hostility. To stamp out this kind of behavior."

The Trump campaign reportedly disinvited Robinson from future rallies on Thursday.

Robinson has declined to withdraw from the race for Governor and denies the claims, calling the report "tabloid trash."
