Donald Trump will soon get his chance to sway voters via an unlikely source that he’s spent years attacking: CNN.
The network revealed it will host a town hall with the former president on 10 May in a move that has surprised many given how many times he’s decried CNN as “fake news”.
The town hall announcement came the same day that Mr Trump arrived in Scotland to visit his golf courses, and hours after he filed a motion for a mistrial in his legal battle against rape accuser E Jean Carroll.
Ms Carroll is suing Mr Trump for battery and defamation after he allegedly raped her in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in the 1990s. Ms Carroll ended her stint on the stand on Monday afternoon after three days of emotional testimony where she was grilled on her actions after the alleged rape.
Before the day’s proceedings began, Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina filed for a mistrial in a motion accusing Judge Lewis Kaplan of “pervasive unfair and prejudicial rulings” against the defendant’s legal team.
That motion was unsurprisingly denied.
