The feud between US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk has reignited spectacularly on Tuesday, with the tech billionaire threatening to launch a new political party and the president warning that Musk's companies could lose billions of dollars in subsidies.

Musk and Trump's political alliance appeared to come to a dramatic conclusion a month ago in a blistering war of words, with Trump threatening to target Musk's business interests and the world's richest man calling for the president to be impeached.
