In a recent development, President Donald Trump's media company has filed a lawsuit against a Brazilian Supreme Court justice, alleging a violation of U.S. free speech protections. The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Tampa, accuses the justice of imposing a ban on a right-wing supporter of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
The legal action comes on the heels of Bolsonaro being charged in Brazil for his alleged involvement in a coup plot aimed at retaining power after losing the 2022 election to current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The plot reportedly included plans to harm Lula and assassinate Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, a prominent judicial opponent of Bolsonaro.
