Trump makes new Iran claim with war ‘hopefully’ close to ending

  • Iranian officials rejected the prospect of immediate peace talks, with military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi vowing to defend the country to the last drop of blood.
  • Oil prices reached $108 per barrel following continued disruption to shipping around the Strait of Hormuz and escalating Red Sea tensions.
  • Iran’s foreign minister was instructed by his Chinese counterpart to reopen the Strait.
  • He was also urged by China to return to the interim peace deal signed with the US in June as disruption to energy supplies continues to be felt around the world.
