- A top official in the U.S. Secret Service has announced his resignation on the same day that President Donald Trump fired his new press secretary.
- U.S. Secret Service Deputy Director Matthew Quinn wrote on X , “Today I informed the men and women of the @SecretService that I will be transitioning out of my role as Deputy Director. Director Curran and I have been working on a thoughtful transition plan for months now. Proud of the men & women of the USSS and all your accomplishments!”
- The announcement came roughly an hour after White House officials said Katie Zacharia was “let go” and “transitioning out” of her new role as Trump’s press secretary after just five days on the job.
- On Tuesday, Kimberly Guilfoyle resigned as U.S. ambassador to Greece at Trump’s urging, following a bombshell report alleging she begged a Trump donor to pay off her six-figure credit card bill.
- After Zacharia’s firing on Friday, Trump said he is in no rush to name a new press secretary to replace her.
