These accusations have been circulating in the MAGA world, with Trump asserting on social media that the FBI was given permission to use lethal force during the raid in August 2022.

The controversy escalated when Trump's team released a newsletter, named the Palm Beach Playbook, which falsely stated that deadly force was authorized against Trump during the FBI operation. The newsletter, distributed via donaldjtrump.com, insinuated that the intent behind this authorization was a possible assassination attempt on Trump.
