Trump endorses trio of safe Georgia Republicans ahead of primary

ATLANTA — Former President Donald Trump announced his support Saturday for three Georgia incumbents in the U.S. House.

Trump’s endorsement of Reps. Barry Loudermilk, Buddy Carter and Rick Allen gives the former president virtually guaranteed successes to hang his hat on if other hand-picked candidates don’t notch victories.

Polling shows that Gov. Brian Kemp is far ahead of former U.S. Sen. David Perdue, who’s backed by Trump. Trump endorsed U.S. Rep. Jody Hice’s campaign to unseat incumbent Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, but the two appear to be neck-and-neck and likely headed to a runoff.
