Trump Doubles Down on False Anti-Immigrant Attack: They're 'Eating Other Things Too'

Former President Trump stood by his unfounded claim on Wednesday that Haitian immigrants are eating pets, piling on to the baseless accusations by adding, "eating other things too, that they're not supposed to be."

In the presidential debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump claimed that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio are "eating the pets of people that live here," leading to threats of violence in the community.

Since the claims were adopted by the Trump campaign, neither Trump nor JD Vance have acknowledged Springfield officials repeated statements that there is no credible evidence for the claims.

At Wednesday's Univision Noticias Wednesday town hall, an undecided voter asked Trump "Do you really believe that these people are eating the people's pets?"

Trump answered, "I was just saying what was reported, that's been reported. And eating other things too, that they're not supposed to be."

"All I do is report," Trump added, promising to return to Springfield to "take a look," and give a "full report."

Trump also stood by his plans to revoke immigration status for legal Haitian immigrants, repeating another inaccurate claim that 30,000 migrants have moved to Springfield, Ohio. City officials estimate migration across the entire county to fall between 12,000 to 15,000.
