Speaking to CNN, Trump was pressed on what appeared to be a contradiction in his stance. The network asked why Putin would be invited to a peace-focused body if Trump believed Russia might threaten Greenland, a territory of Denmark and a Nato member.
Trump responded by arguing that the proposed board is designed around power and influence rather than shared political values or alliances.
