Donald Trump has escalated his ongoing war against the media to an unprecedented level by demanding on Truth Social that journalists from The New York Times and other news organisations be arrested over reporting empty seats at his campaign rallies.

Writing in a furious social media tirade on Monday, 5 October 2026, the enraged president targeted what he termed 'artificial media outlets', claiming that critical coverage of unfilled bleachers at recent midterm events in Ohio and Alabama constituted a criminal 'disservice' to the country.
