President-elect Donald Trump and Vice-President elect JD Vance have voiced their opposition to the continuing resolution put forward by House Speaker Mike Johnson. In a statement released on Wednesday, Trump and Vance expressed their concerns about the proposed funding bill.

According to the statement, Trump and Vance believe that a streamlined spending bill is necessary to support farmers, provide disaster relief, and set the country up for success in 2025. They emphasized the importance of passing a temporary funding bill without what they referred to as 'Democrat giveaways,' along with an increase in the debt ceiling.

The criticism from Trump and Vance comes as Johnson faces backlash from members of his own party over his plan to fund the government. Trump and Vance echoed many of the concerns raised by fellow Republicans in their statement, calling for a more strategic and assertive approach.

'Republicans must GET SMART and TOUGH. If Democrats threaten to shut down the government unless we give them everything they want, then CALL THEIR BLUFF,' the statement read.

Johnson is currently working to avoid a government shutdown as the funding deadline approaches. The differing viewpoints within the Republican party highlight the challenges of reaching a consensus on the best course of action for funding the government.

As the debate continues, the statements from Trump and Vance add to the ongoing discussion surrounding the future of government funding and the potential implications of the proposed continuing resolution.
