Former President Donald Trump and independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently engaged in discussions regarding a potential endorsement and future collaboration, as reported by the Washington Post. The conversation took place following an attempted assassination of Trump during a campaign event in Pennsylvania.
During their dialogue, Trump and Kennedy explored the idea of Kennedy endorsing Trump's campaign and potentially withdrawing from the presidential race. Additionally, they deliberated on potential roles for Kennedy within a hypothetical second Trump administration, ranging from Cabinet-level positions to roles not requiring Senate confirmation.
However, no formal agreement was reached between the two parties. Trump's aides expressed reservations about committing to a job in the administration in exchange for an endorsement, as per the Post's report.
Efforts to obtain comments from both the Trump and Kennedy campaigns are currently underway.
Details of the conversations between Trump and Kennedy were partially disclosed by Kennedy's son, Bobby Kennedy III, who shared a video on social media featuring a phone call between Trump and Kennedy. In the video, Trump appeared to endorse unfounded theories regarding vaccine safety. Subsequently, Kennedy III removed the video from his social media platform.
