During the ongoing trial involving former President Donald Trump, several of his GOP allies gathered outside the courthouse to express their discontent with the proceedings. North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum labeled the trial as a 'scam' and accused it of being 'election interference,' claiming that it was preventing Trump from actively participating in the campaign trail.
Florida Rep. Byron Donalds echoed similar sentiments, referring to the trial as a 'joke' and asserting that no crime had been committed. Entrepreneur and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy described the courtroom as 'one of the most depressing places' he had ever been, likening it to a scene from a Kafka novel. He criticized the prosecutors for attempting to 'bore the jurors into submission.'
Ramaswamy expressed his frustration at the lack of clarity regarding Trump's alleged crime, particularly in light of Michael Cohen's testimony. House Speaker Mike Johnson also shared similar remarks earlier in the day.
Following their statements, the allies reentered the courtroom, causing disruption during Cohen's testimony. Judge Juan Merchan appeared visibly annoyed by the noise created by Trump's supporters.
