US President Donald Trump criticised the Nobel Peace Prize decision at a rally in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, 9 October 2026. Hours after South African jurist Navi Pillay won the award, Trump argued that he deserved eight prizes for conflicts he claimed to have resolved.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee had recognised Pillay for promoting peace and international law. Trump instead questioned her credentials, complained about the United Nations and accused Norway of dishonouring the United States.
