During the third quarter of Monday night’s Minnesota Vikings game against the San Francisco 49ers, ESPN color commentator and Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman called Kirk Cousins a top 10 quarterback in the National Football League.
Where Cousins sits in the pantheon of quarterback rankings across the NFL is one of the more contentions subjects across the league. A player that continues to put up stats, Cousins hasn’t been able to have the type of success you would expect from a top 10 type quarterback.
It’s obvious that Cousins is a very good quarterback. He has a more than capable arm while also being very accurate and mostly risk-averse. Being risk averse is one of the points of contention among analysts because he has a tendency to check the ball down when routes are open down the field.
Regardless, Cousins getting praise from the national media is a really nice change of pace considering how the discussion narrative usually is.
