Police have launched a crackdown on off-road bikers in one part of Swansea whose behaviour has been described as "troublesome and dangerous". Local police inspector Judith Martin said residents of Townhill have grown frustrated at the bikers who are illegally riding on public roads and disrupting their quality of life.
Community members are being urged to contact South Wales Police or Crimestoppers if they come across any bikers causing a nuisance in the area. Insp Martin explained: "We know from local community Facebook pages that residents in Townhill are frustrated by the issue of off-road bikers.
"People can use off-road bikes on private land but they aren’t allowed on public roads. Off-road biking on the roads around Townhill presents a significant challenge for us and has done for some time. What I really want the local residents to know is that we have already been exercising the powers available to us and are constantly looking for ways to improve our response to this troublesome and dangerous behaviour. This includes working collaboratively with local councillors and partner agencies.

"Not only is this behaviour disrupting the quality of life for local residents, it is also putting the safety of the general public and that of the riders in jeopardy – not to mention the offences that are being committed."
She added that her officers are not getting enough information about the offenders to put a stop to the issue. "In order to combat this I am asking for the public’s help by providing us with as much detail as they can on the bikes and the riders as I believe the majority of the offenders are local to the Townhill area," she said.
"It would be really helpful if the community could provide us with descriptions of the bikes, the people riding them and where the vehicles are being kept. If you have any information regarding offenders and addresses, or any images of those causing this nuisance, please get in touch via swp101@south-wales.police.uk and we will look to act on the intelligence provided."
