Troubled history of children's home targeted by arsonists

An abandoned convent and children's home has become a target for arsonists.

St Gabriel's on Beaconsfield Road in Woolton has stood empty for a number of years and had fallen into a state of repair. Just recently, on Saturday, October 8, a huge blaze tore through the building.

Firefighters worked through the night to fight the fire as flames tore through the first floor and roof space of the derelict building. It was later confirmed by Merseyside Fire and Rescue that the fire was started "deliberately".
