Trooping The Colour dubbed 'fanciest dog walk ever' as mascot steals the show

As the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations kick off, all eyes are on the capital for Trooping the Colour as the royal family congregates in London.

But it's not the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, or even HRH that's the centre of attention so far, as the mascot of the Irish Guards is currently stealing the show.

Seamus, an I rish wolfhound, is the official regimental mascot of the guards and has sent social media into a meltdown, as they brand the parade the 'fanciest dog walk ever'.

Twitter has been flooded with comments about what a good boy Seamus is, as video cameras for live news reports follow his every move.

One Twitter user said: "I don’t get most of this parade thing, but the dog is adorable. I’ll give you that, Britain. Seamus is cute."

And another wrote: "We've learned that Seamus is well-behaved and hasn't been demoted for biting The Queen or misbehaving- another vote for the dogs!"

Then a third wrote: "Doesn’t Seamus look magnificent? This must be the fanciest dog walk ever."

"There’s a dog at trooping of the colour ahhhh," exclaimed another user.

Another simply wrote: "The dog is cool"

And Kaylyn Hohn said: "The dog has been the star of the show so far among #CronkiteLondon! #TroopingtheColour."

Seamus the dog was handled by drummer Adam Walsh from the Irish Guards.

Last night, the Queen's official birthday honours list was announced and today kicks off a bumper four-day bank holiday with the country given a free pass to flood the streets with parties, Pimms and Union Jack bunting.

The celebrations began with Trooping the Colour today from 10am by the 1st Battalion Irish Guards, and the RAF flypast.
