Tronsmart is an audio tech company that has been designing premium products since 2013 and has rapidly grown its catalogue ever since.
They have a huge range of products but are mostly known for their speakers.
After the success of their recent party speaker the 60w Bang, they have released two more unique products, adding to their ever-growing roster.
The first is the Tronsmart T7 Bluetooth speaker that looks to add a splash of colour to parties and events.
The T7 is a dynamic speaker that sports a cylindrical design granting 360 surround sound making it suitable for outside and inside use.
Instead of having a metallic mesh like other speakers, Tronsmart has opted to make it out of a knitted fabric.
The control buttons are easily accessible at the back of the speaker and take up very little space allowing mesh to make up the majority of the speaker.
The unique design is completed with the massive volume wheel located at the top of the speaker which is decorated with the LED light.
Its compact body measures 21.6cm x 7.8cm making it a great companion to take on the go.
It's slightly heavier than your standard portable speaker weighing 870g, however, it’s still light enough to carry for long periods of time.
The T7 speaker is a premium device that not only looks stylish but has also been built to boost its audio capabilities through the cylindrical design.
It comes with an IPX7 waterproof rating which means it can withstand rain and even be submerged in water for up to thirty minutes. This makes it a perfect partner for outdoor adventures.
The speaker is built with dual tweeters & woofer that can pump out up to 30w of sound. This allows the speaker to play both the left and right channels simultaneously making it an ideal alternative for a traditional speaker setup.
The T7 has a wide frequency range of 60Hz – 20kHz enabling it to play different types of music with admirable results.
The bass really stood out and I was massively impressed with how much power this compact device could generate.
The 360 audio design allowed it to produce great sound no matter where it was located in my house.
The T7 includes five control buttons that allow users to have full authority over their music and access the SoundPulse preset.
However, these buttons double or triple up to grant access to the speakers other functions such as activating the voice assistant, changing the LED lights settings or answering calls.
It’s great that Tronsmart has created a multi-purpose speaker but they haven’t made it easy to access some of these functions.
For instance, the Play button is used to answer and reject calls while also granting access to the voice assistant and it can get a little confusing remembering all the input commands
These may be secondary functions but it would’ve been handy to have dedicated buttons for them.
One of the main features of the T7 is the LED lights, which come in four different patterns.
The lights are very powerful and will illuminate any party, however there isn’t any way to customise existing presets or create new ones.
The speaker can be paired with a second T7 but I wasn’t able to test this function.
The T7 works with the Tronsmart app allowing further control options such as changing the different music presets or switching the play modes. The app is very easy to use but grants effective EQ customisation.
The speaker will allow users to play music off their micro SD cards with a nice feature that will save the battery when the Bluetooth is turned off.
It supports all the various voice assistants such as Siri, Google Assistant, and Cortana. I found that it worked effortlessly with my mobile phone’s Google Assistant.
The T7 includes a 4000mAh battery that will last for at least twelve hours depending on whether the lights are turned on or off.
I found that with the lights turned on it only really lasted for around eight hours which is still great for parties and camping.
The only downside is that it will take a really long time to be fully charged even though it has a USB-C port.
Verdict 4/5
The T7 are great speakers suited for all kinds of occasions due to their stellar 360 design, wide frequency range, and LED light show.
My main gripe is that the app is a bit too simple and doesn’t grant as much customisation as I would want. That being said, this is a great speaker that will light up any event.
The Tronsmart T7 is available now for £44.75
The second device is the successor to the Tronsmart portable Groove speaker, the Groove 2.
The Groove 2 has been designed to be the ultimate adventure speaker that can accompany the consumer in a plethora of outdoor activities.
Like its predecessor the Groove 2 is a squircle compact speaker measuring 10.6cm x 6cm, allowing it to be easily transported.
Its lightweight body that weighs 473.5g means it is well suited to be attached to bicycles or backpacks.
The front of the speaker has a metal mesh that has been decorated with an LED light, while the back has a miniature Subwoofer.
The speaker is built from a tough plastic that feels very robust and durable which makes it well suited to hikes, rock climbing, and other intense outdoor activities.
I was very impressed with the durability of the speaker as it hasn’t sustained scuffs or scratches from any of the activities I took it on.
Tronsmart has also built in a threaded hole and included a Carabiner handle so it can be attached to various vehicles.
The Groove 2 is one of the toughest speakers I have ever seen with its strong exterior making it a very dependable companion.
It comes with an IPX7 rating which is perfect for this adventure-orientated speaker.
Given that Tronsmart has stated that the Groove 2 is only 10 W I was really impressed with the power of the speaker which has been amplified through the subwoofer.
Its emphasis on bass with a frequency range of 20Hz – 20kHz, is respectable and not too overbearing allowing the mids and highs to still be heard.
That being said I did find that there was some distortion when the volume was turned up.
It comes with dual EQ presents, including the signature SoundPulse technology, but there was only a subtle difference compared to other speakers.
The Groove 2 will grant access to a few ways to play music including through Bluetooth 5.2, micro SD cards and it even includes an Aux port. This is a great selection that massively boosts its usage options.
It does not work with Tronsmart’s companion app meaning everything has to be controlled via the four buttons.
I think this is a weird omission as there are just too many different elements assigned to the buttons and the app could help alleviate some of the heavy lifting.
The speaker can be paired with a second Groove 2 but I wasn’t able to test this function.
The LED lights are a nice inclusion but they can’t be customised and the speaker only includes three different pattern options to pick from.
The Groove 2 will last for a phenomenal eighteen hours when the LED light is turned off and six with them on.
The difference in performance is massive and raises a question of whether the LED lights are even needed.
Verdict 3/5
Tronsmart’s Groove 2 is a tough and durable speaker that has been splendidly designed to handle harsh environments.
The battery life is incredible for its price, however, I feel the speaker is lacking much-needed customisation features.
The Tronsmart Groove 2 is available now for £27.99
