Not that the NBA’s all-time leading scorer needs it, but a former teammate came to his defense in an colossal tirade.
Following recent comments made by Mario Chalmers that “NBA players have never feared Lebron James like they did Michael Jordan”, former Cavalier Tristian Thompson put Chalmers on blast.
The former NBA veteran was clearly set off by the comment, ripping the former Heat guard in an explosive diatribe while appearing on The Draymond Green Show.
“That s--- pissed me off … guys be on some sucka s---,” Thompson said. “Mario Chalmers, at one point you were probably texting LeBron to get on a team and get a job … This is the best player you’ve ever been on the court with.”
Thompson, who played in Cleveland from 2011 to ’20 and won a championship playing alongside James in ’16, is obviously grateful to James for helping him get a ring. The duo played together for four seasons, finishing in the top four in the conference and reaching the NBA Finals each time.
Chalmers, on the other hand, lasted only two more seasons in the NBA with Memphis after James went back to Cleveland, starting just 17 games.
Verbal jabs aside, it’s clear one of James’s former teammates has a different level of respect for his achievements.
