The State Pension rose by 4.1% in April 2025 under the government's triple lock promise, but millions of pensioners did not see the full increase in their weekly payments because of gaps in their National Insurance (NI) record, the type of State Pension they receive and where they live.
The full new State Pension, paid to those who reached State Pension age on or after 6 April 2016, rose from £221.20 to £230.25 a week. That is an increase of £9.05 a week, or about £471 a year, taking the full annual rate to £11,973.
