Trinny Woodall's Zara must-haves could easily be mistaken for designer – from embellished jackets to elevated co-ords

It's still very much summer, but the season has felt long, so it's around now that we might be looking for a wardrobe refresh. Which is why Trinny Woodall's latest round-up of Zara must-haves – that look seriously expensive – couldn't have come at a better time.

Highlighting items that she compares to several notable designers, Trinny shines a light on pieces that are great options if you want something a little more special in your summer capsule wardrobe without spending a fortune.

Amongst her picks, she grabs an embroidered multicoloured jacket that she says "looks like Isabel Marant", and shows us two trouser and shirt co-ords that she compares to the luxury brand Dries Van Noten. However, one of my favourite items has to be the delicately embroidered bag – the chicest companion to your summer wedding guest dresses.

Leaning into the boho aesthetic, this beautiful embroidered jacket will help you make a statement effortlessly. Trinny comments that the design is similar to vintage Isabel Marant styles, known for their effortless, folksy feel.

These embroidered shorts can define a whole outfit with their eye-catching detailing. Style them with a crisp white shirt and some heeled pumps for a smart-casual outfit.

Covered in sparkling sequins, this bag is the kind of bold accessory that will instantly make a simple outfit feel more special. The intricate detailing makes it look far more expensive than its price tag, and it's the chicest piece for taking to a special occasion.

Trinny highlights this shirt, commenting that it's similar to her Dries Van Noten co-ord. "I love the softness of the fabric, and I like the fact that the top is chilled", saying "it's really chic for travelling". So if you're looking for an airport outfit idea, look no further.

Easy to wear, these trousers are perfect for laid-back everyday dressing. The breezy silhouette would work perfectly as part of a beach outfit with a simple vest and your most comfortable sandals.

The classic navy stripes give this shirt a timeless feel, which is contrasted with the distinctive frog fastening, adding a touch of vintage-inspired detail. Wear with the matching trousers or as part of a white jeans outfit.

Offering a relaxed take on tailoring, with a loose floaty silhouette that falls into an elasticated trouser hem. The stripes add structure to the laid-back shape and the navy shade makes them suprisingly versatile.

The cropped silhouette on this blazer gives it a contemporary feel, whilst the stripes feel playful, adding interest to your silhouette. Style it with the matching trousers, or wear it to elevate your favourite jeans.

Bringing texture and dimension to every outfit, these ballet flats are a standout choice. The woven finish gives them a relaxed, summery feel, whilst the ballet-flat silhouette keeps them polished and easy to wear.

A statement bag or new jacket can make the things you already own feel brand new again, which is what to look out for when thinking ahead to your autumn outfit ideas. Zara is particularly good at having these fashion-forward designs that feel high-end at affordable price points.
