John's story made headlines in April 2020 when due to stockpiling and restrictions placed on shoppers due to the coronavirus outbreak, John's mum Sharon found herself struggling to find any Asda chicken nuggets for her son - one of the few items of food he could eat because of their soft batter.

Asda came to the family's rescue and offered a year's supply to John.
