Tributes have been paid to missing Scots man Martin Simpson after police discovered a body on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old, who was reported missing from Oakbank Street in Airdrie on Monday, was described as a 'smashing guy' who would have have 'done anything for anybody'.
A frantic search was launched for painter and decorator Martin when he failed to show up at work as his family desperately tried to trace him.
Daughter Donna, 34, posted on social media confirming police had discovered a body in the search for Martin. She said: "Update... Thank you very much for everyone who has shared the post to help find our dad, unfortunately a body has been found and is confirmed as Martin.
"You are loved more than you know dad."
Heartbroken pals also took to social media to pay tribute to Martin as they remembered him as a great guy.
Paula Stephen said: "Great guy, RIP Simmy would have done anything for anybody. He was a great uncle especially to Kevin. Thinking of Cacs and his lovely daughters and the rest of his family. Back with his sidekick john (banana)."
Kate Fitzpatrick added: "Sad day for all Simmy's family and friends. Only had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, but always had a great gab and a laugh. Keeping all the family in my thoughts and prayers."
While Sharon Doggart wrote: "So heartbreaking, only shared this morning x god bless Simmy and his poor family and friends absolutely tragic. Such an awful gap in mental health services and help. The government need to be held accountable!!! I know from personal experience, it's just not working, not enough resources!! X"

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
