Tributes have flooded in for a Scottish DJ after his 'heartbroken' family announced his sudden death today.
Music producer Jamie Roy, from Dumfries died on Tuesday, the devastating statement said.
Jamie's devastated family announced his passing to fans in a touching Facebook post on Wednesday morning.
The emotional statement described the producer as a 'talented musician', as his loved ones told how he would be missed by so many people just days after the release of 'the biggest track' of his life.
"It is with much sadness that we share this message from Jamie Roy's family. Jamie passed away yesterday," his devastated loved-ones wrote.
"Jamie was a much loved and talented son, brother, nephew and uncle and loved by his many friends and colleagues both within the music industry and beyond that. We are all absolutely heartbroken."
Jamie was practically raised in club culture, becoming a key part of the Glasgow underground. A stellar DJ, his infectious energy would lit up the room, with Jamie Roy’s knack for reading a crowd taking him across Europe and beyond.
Performing at key venues across Ibiza, his dual role as a producer saw Jamie Roy establish himself as an artist, pursuing subtle but striking blends of house, techno, and aspects of disco.
Tributes have been paid by colleagues in the music industry since the sad announcement of Jamie's death.
Ewan McVicar, fellow Scottish DJ and producer of hit track Tell Me Something Good, said Roy was 'one of the good ones'.
The DJ said he was 'gutted' to hear about the loss of the producer who had an 'unmatched positive energy always and no hidden agenda'.
Independent house music label, Defected Records also paid tribute to the DJ.
“We are all devastated to hear about the passing of Jamie this morning,” a statement posted on social media read.
“A great producer, DJ, and friend to so many within our industry. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. Shine bright, Jamie.”
Newcastle DJ Patrick Topping added: "Gutted to hear of the passing of Jamie Roy, such a sound lad".
DJ duo CamelPhat also shared: "RIP Jamie Roy, one of the good guys in this crazy industry. Thoughts are with your family and friends. Will miss you."
House producer and Spurs match day DJ Zoe London also paid tribute to Jamie.
“I’m so sad to hear about Jamie Roy passing this morning,” she said. “I’d followed him for a while and loved how inspiring his life and career in this industry was. He came across as a truly genuine and lovely guy. I’m sorry for the loss."
Jamie's cause of death has not yet been revealed.
