An Irishman has died following an accident while attempting to climb the Matterhorn in Switzerland.
Anthony Ryan, originally from Drimnagh, Co Dublin but had been living in London for some time, sadly passed away after debris fell near the summit of the deadly mountains.
A guide hiking with Mr Ryan also died during the incident on one of Europe’s most dangerous peaks.

It is believed they were killed in late July as they moved close to the summit of the Matterhorn, according to the Irish Independent.
A funeral notice states that Mr Ryan, who was living on Marlborough Road, London and formerly of Mourne Road, Dublin 12, died suddenly in Switzerland on July 27.
It reads: “Beloved son of Anthony and the late Stephanie, and loving brother of Alan, Gillian, David and Stephanie. He will be very sadly missed by his dad, partner Bonita, brothers, sisters, his auntie Patty, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.”
Funeral arrangements are to be announced at a later time.
Tributes to the mountaineer have flooded in as those who knew Anthony offered their sympathies to his family.
One person wrote: “Deepest condolences to Jayne, Gillian and Damien and all the Ryan family at this time. Our thoughts are with you all. May he rest in peace.”
A second said: “To Tony Gillian David Alan Stephanie Patty thinking of you all at this awful time Anto was such a pleasant chap may he R.I.P Auntie Stephanie is looking after him now xxx”.
Another wrote: “So sorry to hear of the sudden death of Anthony. R I P Anthony Condolence to Tony and all the family.”
